As I work through existing word files, I want to mark words for inclusion in my own review list. I also would love the ability to create my own learning lists on the web for download to my iTouch.

Two excellent ideas. Thank you. On having a review list to which users can add words from other lists – that is a feature that we do plan to add in a future version of the App. In regard a web interface to create custom user wordfiles that can then be downloaded onto the user’s iPhone/iTouch – that is also a very good idea and it is something we will definitely consider implementing. Thanks again for your valuable suggestions.

A spaced repetition system involves forcing the user to review a word by reintroducing the word over increased intervals of time to ensure that it stays in long term memory.

After installing the files in a random order it's getting difficult to keep straight which one's I have and which one's I don't. I'd also like to move the files I've completed to the end.

Allow accent editing for creating your own word files

When creating your own word file there is no on screen option to spell words correctly with accents. I really want to learn these words correctly and this is preventing that.

Regrade the levels to reflect the JLPT N levels now in use. 4, 3, 2, 1 Kyu levels are history.

Your listings with JLPT 4 kyu etc., are out of date and should be updated to reflect the new levels. This will make the program more attractive to those with these tests in mind. New apps are now on the market that are using these and it would be a pity for Declan to be left behind.

Add additional exercises

Currently I am using the Chinese version for Android to assist with my Chinese Studies. I would love to have additional exercises that would allow me to hear the Chinese word and select the Chinese character. Also to see the Chinese character and locate the correct Chinese sound. This would allow me to take each word file to the next step of moving away from English and engaging more of the Chinese. Definitely keep the existing exercises but just add a couple more.

implemet a character recogniton system to input characters to search the dictionary.

Allow input on the screen by writing the character with the stylus or finger and then be able show the information about the character, pinyin, meaning, radical ,stroke number, audio etc. it would help a lot with learning Chinese.

Make ALL words in the WordFile available for review

It seems that when I "Review words in Learning List" I get only the first 10. Two things:

One, this value (10) doesn't seem adjustable.
Two, it seems impossible to get to the remaining words unless I click the "Drop from Learning List".

Let's take the example of the WordFile "Common (Part 1)". There are 50 words in this file. However, I can only see/hear the first 10. I can't get to the other 40 unless I start dropping a few of the first 10. The problem with this is that it seems to force me to learn the words that the developer things are most important... not the ones that I think are most important. Plus it seems a bit counter-intuitive. For example, if I DON'T want drop words then I load "Common (Part 1)" and hear the first 10. Then I forget the next 40 and load "Common (Part 2)" and hear the first 10 in this file. Perhaps my assumption that the words in "Common (Part 1)" are more common than the words in "Common (Part 2)" is incorrect. But either way it would be nice to get beyond the first 10 in any wordfile without having to drop words.

My suggestion is simple on the surface (though not sure how difficult to implement). Basically, as it is now you have 10 words available when in the "Review Words in Learning List" section. You work through these 10 words by clicking "Next Word" until you reach the 10th word (at which point the "Next Word" button is shaded). Instead of having it this way, can you just make the "Next Word" button become "Next 10 Words" instead?

Japanese Kanji Read/Write radicals

On the Japanese Kanji Read/Write, radical portion... could you make it just show the meaning of the kanji (showing the Kanji kinda gives the whole thing away), and add a feature to make you select ALL the radicals of the Kanji, perhaps using a version of the grid search?

Add the ability to search WordFiles.

I have lived in China for a year and a half. When I found this app I got REALLY excited. It's extremely close to what I've been looking though still falls a bit short in one area. What I want seems pretty simple. I'd like to have the ability to search for a specific word (globally... all wordfiles) and then be able to hear it. This would be SO helpful when in conversations with my Chinese friends or when I'm in the taxi/factory/shopping mall and can't come up with an appropriate word. After finding the appropriate word I could then add it to my sticky list for future reference. Do you feel this functionality would be reasonable to implement? Having this type of functionality would make this app an absolute home run! Oh, and if by chance it already exists and I've simply overlooked it somehow please let me know.
